updates! + what is interior design?
Well hello hello! Sorry for the 100 years of vacum :D I've been very busy with going to university and you probably know how it is to be a first year. Also my Grandma moved to Jakarta and had to deal with house buyers and stuff. It's sold now so I'm back hoome! home sweet home! :D but with the lack of internet (One of the reason for the '100 years' update. lol :D).
So... I don't know whether I've mentioned it before, thank GOD... I got into interior design and I'm so psyched (is that the right word 'phyched' for happy excited? blaaah) No calculus, not too much physics hahahaa... I swear I used to love math when I was in elementary... you know the 8 times 2, 12+3 part and the 'fun stuff'... After a lot of calculus, integrals, the complicated formulas they just made me lose my interest... :p
Interior design is as you know, designing the interior part of a building. I used to think that it was just for homes, but it actually has broader studies. From malls, airport, restaurants, hotel lobbys... And not only do interior designers design the room, they can also design the furnitures. Don't think that interior designer's just all about the colour picking and designing, it is too essential to study about building structure (welcome physics!), plumbing and drainage system in a building, air circulation, management, cultures and psychology. Because what looks good isn't always healthy.
So you want to be an interior designer? Creativity is essential, AutoCAD, presentation ability, social skills and if you really are interested, try taking classes or courses, or get a degree in interior design. Because you need to have a licence to be an interior designer. :)
And! interior design is one of the most promising, wanted, highest salary job in the future after doctors, lawyers, dentists and theraphist (At least from what I've read on the internet... hehe). I personally think it's true because people are getting busier and hectic and they don't have time to design their place. That's what interior designers are for! :D
But wait, don't get too excited about the future in this job just yet. Ask yourself first. Do you really want to be an interior designer? Will you like it and do you like it now? Is that something that you wanna do in the next 20-30-40 or who knows years of your life?
I hope this helps :)
xoxo Yasmin
